Each page features a different group of animals. The simple, rhyming text and narration introduces some of the more wild and wonderful nouns for groups of animals – such as a pandemonium of parrots or an ostentation of peacocks. Many of these were new to us!
There are 16 different groups in all, from bears to skunks and bats to giraffes. Our personal favourite is the shrewdness of apes cuddling their babies. There is even a charming song of the whole text running over the end credits – beware, it is very catchy…
With clear navigation and all the usual options you’d hope for (with or without music, with or without narration, a contents page so you can skip easily to your favourite group and so on), this app has been a real hit in our household.
A Troop is a Group of Monkeys is for iPad only, and is available on the App Store for £1.49.
