iAbidan is an offline dictionary for English and Myanmar speakers who need quick access to word meanings, pronunciation, and related terms without relying on a web connection. On a desktop or laptop, the app becomes a permanent reference alongside your other work windows: no phone screen constraints, no constant switching between apps.

Translation and Reference in One Place

The dictionary offers word definitions paired with example sentences, helping you understand context beyond a bare translation. You can search from English to Myanmar or Myanmar to English, making it useful if you're reading unfamiliar text in either language or composing something in a tongue that isn't your native one. The addition of phonetic guides and voice pronunciation support reinforces how words sound, turning the app into a multi-modal learning tool.

How a Desktop Session Unfolds

Using iAbidan on PC follows a straightforward workflow:

  1. Open iAbidan alongside your main document or browser window.
  2. Type an English or Myanmar word into the search box using your keyboard.
  3. View the definition, examples, and related terms instantly.
  4. Save important or frequently checked words to your Favourites section for one-click access later.
  5. Reference your Recent searches to revisit words you looked up in earlier sessions.
  6. Listen to pronunciation without leaving the app or hunting for external audio resources.

Offline Capability and No Internet Requirement

Because iAbidan is an offline dictionary, you don't need a data connection to look up words. On a PC that stays in one location (your desk, workspace, or study area) this means reliable, instant lookups throughout the day without worrying about network interruptions or data usage.

Storage and Persistent Access

Running iAbidan on a computer gives you a larger device with more storage capacity than most phones, letting the full dictionary database sit comfortably without consuming your phone's limited space. Your search history and Favourites remain tied to that installation, so every work session picks up where the last one ended: no resetting or loss of context between days.

Interface Features for Everyday Use

The app includes a Recent searches list and Favourites section to organize your lookups. A date-filtered view and categorized interface help you track which words you studied when, useful if you're building vocabulary over time or reviewing terms from specific study sessions. The combination of these tools makes iAbidan for Windows PC a functional desk companion for anyone juggling bilingual reading and writing.

FAQ

Can I use iAbidan offline on my PC?

Yes. iAbidan is a fully offline dictionary, so once installed, you can search words without an internet connection. This makes it ideal for uninterrupted work sessions at your desk.

Does iAbidan translate entire phrases, or only single words?

The dictionary is built for individual word lookups rather than phrase or sentence translation. If you need to translate longer text, you'll need to break it into separate words or use a separate translation tool alongside iAbidan.

Will my Favourites and Recent searches stay on my PC?

Yes. Your saved words and search history are stored locally on the device where you install iAbidan on PC, so they persist across multiple sessions on that computer.

Does the pronunciation feature work on all PC setups?

Pronunciation and voice playback depend on your system's audio and speech components. Some older versions of iAbidan have had compatibility issues with certain text-to-speech services, so check the app's latest version if you use this feature.

Can I adjust font size in iAbidan?

Current versions of the app do not include a built-in font size control. If readability is a concern, you may need to rely on your PC's system-level display scaling or zoom settings.

Is there a clipboard function to copy words and definitions?

The current version does not include a clipboard or copy-to-clipboard feature, so you'll need to manually type or transcribe any definitions or examples you want to save or share.
