SELPHY Photo Layout lets you arrange smartphone photos into custom layouts and send them straight to a Canon SELPHY printer: a task that's often clumsy on a mobile device when you're juggling images, text placement, and printer settings all at once. Running SELPHY Photo Layout on a desktop computer gives you a proper keyboard, mouse precision for positioning elements, and room to keep your photo library and printer interface visible side by side. If you own a SELPHY printer and want to design collages, bookmarks, or labeled prints with genuine control, moving the app to Windows makes the workflow substantially easier.
SELPHY Photo Layout is Canon's dedicated layout editor for its compact photo printer line. On PC, the app transforms from a tap-and-pinch interface into a proper desktop tool where you can compose multi-image designs, add text, and queue prints with real input devices. The following sections show how desktop use reshapes the experience.
Layout Designs You Can Build
SELPHY Photo Layout supports several layout modes, each suited to different output:
- Select & Print: choose single images and send to the printer with optional date or caption overlay
- N-up Layout: arrange multiple photos in a grid (2, 4, 6, or more per page) on a single sheet
- Bookmark Layout: create long, thin designs perfect for bookmarks or page markers
- Shuffle Layout: randomize photo positions across a layout template for variety
- Combination Layout: mix and match photo sizes within one design for custom collages
- Label Layout: produce small printed labels with images and text for tagging or organization
Working at Your Desk with Full Input Control
Desktop use solves one of the app's core friction points: text placement and formatting. On a phone, positioning text over a photo is imprecise: you tap and drag, guess at centering, and lack visual guides. On PC, mouse control and keyboard entry make it faster to type captions, adjust font sizes, and align elements where you want them. It runs SELPHY Photo Layout open in one window while browsing your photo library in another, or reviewing printer settings without switching apps constantly. A larger workspace also means less accidental taps and fewer layout adjustments due to screen fatigue.
Printing Workflows on a Fixed Connection
Running SELPHY Photo Layout for Windows PC anchors the app to a single machine: ideal if your printer sits on a home office desk. You can leave the app signed in, keep your favorite layouts saved as templates, and return to familiar designs whenever you print. This stability sidesteps the reconnection issues some users report on mobile devices when switching networks or powering devices on and off. Desktop sessions also tend to be longer, which means you can batch-design multiple layouts in one sitting without the battery or heat concerns of a phone.
Paper and Format Support
SELPHY Photo Layout handles all Canon SELPHY-specific paper sizes: Postcard, L (3R), and Card formats. Your choice of layout mode and paper size determines the final printed product: a collage on Postcard paper looks very different from the same design on Card stock. Desktop design lets you preview dimensions more accurately and plan multi-print jobs without jumping between menus.
Compatibility and What to Know Before You Start
SELPHY Photo Layout works with SELPHY CP900, CP910, CP1200, CP1300, and other models in the line. Installation of Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY is a separate requirement: the two apps must be installed together to enable printing. Text formatting options on desktop remain unchanged: you get standard fonts and bold or italic styling, but custom typefaces are unavailable. The app supports JPEG and PNG images only. Keep in mind that designs cannot be undone once you move past a step, and there is no undo/redo feature: plan your layout before committing to print.
How to Download and Install SELPHY Photo Layout for PC or MAC:
Select an Android emulator:  There are many free and paid Android emulators available for PC and MAC, few of the popular ones are Bluestacks, Andy OS, Nox, MeMu and there are more you can find from Google.
Compatibility:  Before downloading them take a look at the minimum system requirements to install the emulator on your PC.
For example,  BlueStacks requires OS: Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista SP2, Windows XP SP3 (32-bit only), Mac OS Sierra(10.12), High Sierra (10.13) and Mojave(10.14), 2-4GB of RAM, 4GB of disk space for storing Android apps/games, updated graphics drivers.
Finally, download and install the emulator which will work well with your PC's hardware/software.
- Open the emulator software from the start menu or desktop shortcut in your PC.
- Associate or set up your Google account with the emulator.
- You can either install the app from Google PlayStore inside the emulator or download SELPHY Photo Layout APK file and open the APK file with the emulator or drag the file into the emulator window to install SELPHY Photo Layout for PC.

FAQ
Can I really run SELPHY Photo Layout on Windows?
Yes. The app is available for desktop via emulator or through Android-on-PC environments, letting you build layouts on a larger screen with keyboard and mouse. You'll need to install Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY separately to connect to your printer.
Do I lose my design if I don't print it?
The app does not offer a save feature for layouts. If you exit without printing, your design is lost. You must either print the layout or start over: there is no undo or design recovery. Plan your layout completely before you send it to the printer.
What image formats does the app accept?
SELPHY Photo Layout works with JPEG and PNG files. Other formats are not supported. You can organize and search photos by date within the app's interface.
Will my phone's printer connection issues go away on PC?
Moving to a desktop PC can improve connection stability since the app stays signed in on one fixed machine and does not have to re-establish a link each time you power on. However, connection problems also depend on your specific printer model, your Wi-Fi setup, and whether the Canon PRINT app is properly installed and up to date.
Can I add text or dates to every layout type?
Date and caption options work when you select a single photo to print. Multi-photo layouts like collages and bookmarks do not currently support per-image date overlays: a limitation that affects all layout modes equally.
Which SELPHY printer models are supported?
The app is certified for CP900, CP910, CP1200, and CP1300. Compatibility with newer models such as the CP1500 varies and may require firmware updates or app updates; if you own a recent printer, check Canon's support pages for your region before installing.
