We’ll be honest: Furby MouthOff sounds horrifying: an app that gives your children a virtual Furby mouth, gabbling like Hasbro’s famous furry toys. Genuinely horrifying.

This, of course, is why your kids may love it. The app is available for iPhone and Android handsets, and involves choosing a Furby, then holding the phone in front of their face. When your child talks, shouts or sings, the on-screen mouth will move in time.

It’s not the first MouthOff app based on a children’s brand either. You can get Ben 10 MouthOff and Ben 10 Alien Force MouthOff on the App Store, and there also used to be a Moshi Monsters version, although it’s since been removed. Actually, our favourite remains the original MouthOff.

Furby MouthOff is a free download from the App Store for iPhone, and it’s also available for Android.
