Great British Chefs Kids app wants to get children cooking

Persuading kids to eat a varied range of meals can be a challenge, but what about getting them to cook some for themselves? That’s the idea behind the Great British Chefs Kids app.

It’s a partnership between cookery website Great British Chefs and supermarket chain Tesco’s Real Food site: a free iPhone or iPad app with 105 recipes designed to be cooked with children.

21 British chefs have contributed their recipes, and each includes photographs, video clips, cooking times, nutritional information and step-by-step instructions. The app also has a voice-control feature, so your kids can control it without having to place floury/oily fingers on the screen.

Pizza hearts, Rice Krispie fish fingers (!), choux caterpillar, popping chocolate orange bites, London Eye Tart and more tasty treats lie in store, with the Tesco angle meaning every recipe links through to its grocery-shopping website to buy ingredients, if necessary.

Great British Chefs Kids HD is a free app – no in-app purchases either – available in separate versions for iPhone/iPod touch and for iPad.
