TV channel Cartoonito spawns Cartoonitos and the Beanstalk app

Pre-school TV channel Cartoonito is popular here in the UK, and elsewhere in the world. Now it’s spawned a new app for kids on iOS: Cartoonitos and the Beanstalk.

Released today, the app is a collection of 15 mini-games, all based on a plot about the colourful Cartoonitos characters travelling up a beanstalk to visit a Giant’s Castle.

“Water the beans, climb the beanstalk, fly to the castle, get past the cat, dodge the Giant and grab your rewards,” explains its App Store listing. “Make sure that you chop down the beanstalk before the Giant climbs down though!”

The games include shape-matching, symmetry recognition and “general problem solving”, and is aimed at 2-8 year-olds. Publisher Turner makes a point of saying there’s no text, making it accessible to kids who can’t read yet (or, indeed, children who don’t read English).

Cartoonitos and the Beanstalk costs £1.49 on the App Store, and runs on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. We’ll be taking a proper look at it in a review in the coming days.
