Making apps based on Frozen? Disney just can’t let the idea go, LET IT GOOO… And so on. Sorry, we’ll tire of using that joke at some point. Possibly.
Disney Build It: Frozen is a fun new creative app for children based on the kingdom of Arendelle and its familiar characters. It’s available for iOS and Android.
The idea: children build virtual snow-globes: scenes with buildings, scenery and characters, all sticking closely to the scenes they love from the film.
“Customize Frozen buildings and add tons of props to design your worlds any way you like,” explains the app store listing. “Play with your favourite Frozen characters and complete mini-missions to create the buildings of their dreams.”
You get a couple of locations, plus Elsa and Sven and a bunch of buildings and other accessories with the initial download of the app.
As parents, you can then choose whether to unlock three more locations and other characters using in-app purchases: £2.99 for everything, or £1.49 a pop for Anna, Kristoff or Olaf plus their associated locations.
Building the scenes is as easy as dragging and dropping on-screen elements: there’s a good tutorial at the start showing how it all works.
It’s good fun for Frozen fans, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see more Disney films get the Build It treatment in the months to come. Disney Build It: Frozen costs £2.99 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, and £3.43 for Android devices from the Google Play store.
