Axel Scheffler: illustrated the Gruffalo (along with other great books). Nosy Crow: made a successful of beautiful interactive book-apps. They’ve made a new one together, you should probably buy it.
That’s enough detail, right? Oh, okay. It’s called Animal SnApp: Farm, and it’s Scheffler’s first original storybook app – as opposed to Pip and Posy: Fun and Games, which was a set of mini-games based on his Pip and Posy books.
The new app is set on a farm with six animal characters: Lucky Lamb, Gobbly Goat, Cuddly Cow, Portly Pig, Diggity Dog and Higgledy Hen. Each gets their own rhyming story in the app, unlocked by matching the top and bottom halves of the character in a nifty sliding game.
Parents will recognise Scheffler’s distinctive illustration style immediately, and the app features the excellent production values from Nosy Crow that we’ve come to know well.
Like we said, you should probably buy it – but we’ll have a full review soon with a proper verdict. For now, Animal SnApp: Farm costs £2.49 on the App Store, and is a universal app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
