Wombi Tower is like Jenga meets Tower Bloxx - for kids

wombi-towerIt wasn’t a children’s game, but we have very fond memories of a mobile game called Tower Bloxx, which you can still get on iOS. It involved dropping blocks of a skyscraper one by one, trying not to make it wobble.

Now imagine that, crossed with popular physical block-puzzle Jenga, and you’ll have a sense of the fun that lies in store with a new app for kids called Wombi Tower.

Developed by Wombi Apps, it blends Tower Bloxx’s block-dropping action with Jenga’s turn-based structure for several players. “Piece by piece, players take turns adding building sections to create a larger and larger tower,” explains its app store listing.

“Don’t let the badger construction manager distract you with his nervousness as you place each shape on top of the last. Whoever places the piece that knocks the structure down loses! How high can you build?”

We like the idea of families gathering around a device to take turns, although the game can also be played alone. Wombi Tower costs £1.49 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store. We believe it’s coming to Android today too, so will update with a link when it goes live.
