Children’s apps join Apple’s latest Red charity campaign

There’s already one good reason to get children’s apps Toca Town and The Human Body: they’re both excellent. But now there’s another reason too.

Both apps – made by Toca Boca and Tinybop respectively – are part of a new Apple App Store promotion to benefit the charity Red.

Launching today, it saw 25 iOS apps debut new content, not to mention Red-themed icons on the App Store, with 100% of their revenues for the next fortnight going to Red’s fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

“Come celebrate with us in this new update for Toca Town where we are painting the Town (RED). Sample the (RED)ilicious flavours from our new ice cream stand in the park and party along with new characters and gift items. Visit houses and discover all the new (RED) items - can you find all the diamonds?” explains the App Store listing for Toca Town.

Meanwhile, Tinybop has added a new module to its biological education app The Human Body: the immune system. “The immune system brims with interactive animations: launch antibodies, trigger a sneeze, bandage wounds, and feed white blood cells bacterial feasts,” explains its App Store listing.

Toca Town costs £0.69 for iPhone and iPad, while The Human Body costs £1.99 for iPhone and iPad, with the Immune System module another £0.69 via in-app purchase.

Meanwhile, there are 23 other apps taking part in the Red promotion, including the likes of Clash of Clans, Angry Birds, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood and Monument Valley, so adults can also help Red’s latest fundraising efforts through their app purchases. Read more about it here.
