Running Ledger Book on a desktop gives you a full-size workspace for entry and review without constant phone interruptions. This free accounting application lets you track credit, debit, income, and expenses in a digital format, replacing the friction of paper ledgers. Ledger Book for Windows PC transforms day-to-day transaction logging into a keyboard-friendly, persistent workspace where your records stay visible across work sessions.
Ledger Book on PC positions your accounting into a dedicated window alongside other desktop tools. If you're reconciling accounts, filtering historical entries, or exporting statements, the larger display and keyboard input speed up the work of maintaining financial records. The core features that make the mobile version useful (backup, PDF reports, and transaction flexibility) carry over to desktop use, but the PC version stakes out a more comfortable territory for regular data entry and review.
Core Entry and Editing
At its heart, Ledger Book lets you add, edit, and update transactions within ledgers and accounts. You can modify amounts and dates on existing entries, and the interface is designed for quick changes via swipe or tap gestures that translate to mouse actions on desktop. One-click transaction addition and editing form the rhythm of the app, letting you log credit and debit movements without stepping through complex menus.
Filtering and Search Across Your Records
Finding a specific transaction depends on Ledger Book's filtering tools:
- Search ledgers and accounts by name
- Filter entries by date range or specific date
- Sort transactions by credit or debit type
- View date-wise summaries for any ledger or account
- Access all filters from a single unified menu
Backup and Data Recovery as a Digital Checkbook Organizer
Ledger Book offers both cloud and local backup options, addressing the risk of data loss. The cloud backup feature requires an internet connection, while local backups store your records on the device itself. However, users have reported recovery challenges: restoring data after a phone reset or app reinstall can be difficult, and account recovery after accidental deletion typically requires contacting support. This is a notable limitation for anyone treating the app as a long-term cash management book.
Security and Offline Access
A PIN lock protects your account from unauthorized access, so your financial records stay private. The app works offline, meaning you can log transactions without an internet connection and sync later when cloud backup is available. The dashboard displays your ten most recent transactions and account summaries at a glance, giving you a quick snapshot of your financial position without scrolling through full ledgers.
Sharing and PDF Export
You can share entire ledgers or individual account entries with others via one-click sharing. The app also exports transactions to PDF, filtered by your chosen criteria, making it easy to produce statements or records for external use. The PDF export respects your filter choices, which means you can generate targeted reports for specific date ranges or transaction types.

FAQ
Can I change a transaction from debit to credit after I've entered it?
No. Once you post a transaction as credit or debit, you cannot flip the type. You can change the date or amount, but the direction is locked. If you make this mistake on multiple entries, your options are limited to deleting the entire account and starting over, or contacting support to request manual correction.
What happens to my records if I reinstall the app or reset my phone?
Cloud and local backups exist in the app, but users have encountered difficulty recovering data after a reinstall or device reset. Support response can be delayed or unresponsive. Before relying on Ledger Book as your sole financial record, test the backup and restore process yourself.
Will Ledger Book work if I'm not connected to the internet?
Yes. The app works entirely offline for data entry and viewing. Cloud backup requires an internet connection, so you'll need to go online to sync your records to remote storage.
Can I search my transactions by date?
Ledger Book includes date-based filtering and search, but some users report difficulty locating transactions by date alone. The filter menu supports date ranges and date-wise entry lookups, though the sorting and browsing experience has received mixed feedback.
Does the app have any language options?
Ledger Book is available in English, Spanish, and Chinese. Note that PDF exports may not match your selected language: users have reported receiving English-language PDFs even after switching the app interface to another language.
