A new app from Toca Boca is always worth celebrating as a parent: the Swedish company has made a succession of beautifully-crafted kid-apps with bags of humour and interactivity. Its latest release, Toca House, is no different.
Aimed at 2-6 year-olds, it’s set in a virtual house. Your children get to do chores – yes, sadly virtual ones – including washing dishes, ironing, sweeping and planting flowers. All in all, there are 19 mini-games to play.
As with previous Toca Boca apps, there is no scoring system or time limit to create stress: it’s a digital toy rather than a competitive pursuit. The fun comes from exploring what you can do and noticing all the little touches.
Will it encourage your kids to start washing up for you? Don’t hold your breath: while you’re putting on the Marigolds, they’ll probably be having another go on Toca House.
The app is universal, running across iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, and costs £1.49 on the App Store.
