I love France, the French language, French culture… It was part of my education right up to the age of 21, and in the years since I’ve been there regularly, for work and for fun. With any luck, my children may end up feeling the same way.
Mademoiselle Daisy’s New Friends might be a good place to start them on that road.
It’s a book-app written by Amélie Sarn, illustrated by Matt Rousse and developed by Square Igloo, whose visuals make it stand out from the herd of competition on the App Store.
“Mademoiselle Daisy is moving into a new apartment and, to enjoy her new life, she is going to need some new friends. This is easier said than done… However, after a disappointing start, charming Mademoiselle Daisy has a good idea,” is the plot synopsis.
The message: “Fitting in can be difficult, but sometimes it only takes a little thing to help us see that folks are mostly friendly and obliging.”
The story is told in English and French – so good for children taking their first steps in learning either language too – and there are a pair of mini-games thrown in for good measure. Expect to pay £2.49 on the App Store, with the app running across iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
