It costs £1.49 on the App Store, and offers a realistic (albeit cartoonish) dashboard and scenery to pootle along, steering, accelerating and braking, turning the radio on and even triggering the windscreen-wipers.

Aimed at 2-8 year-olds, the app also includes sections for cleaning the virtual car and pumping up its tyres. Developer Blinq stresses that there are no ads or in-app purchases, and it’s a playful experience rather than a game – “no stress or high scores to beat”.
