We loved designer Chris O’Shea’s Makego app earlier this year, but we think we might love the follow-up even more.
It’s an iPad app called Little Digits, and if you have young children learning their numbers, it’s an essential download. The idea is beautifully simple and creative:
“Using the iPad multi-touch screen, Little Digits displays number characters by detecting how many fingers you put down. Children can learn to associate the number on the screen with the number of fingers they place down, whilst enjoying the unique characters and animations of the Little Digits world.”
There’s fun to be had plonking fingers onto the screen to learn what number appears (it goes from 0 to 10). With this being iPad, it’s as fun for two or three people as for one too. Well, as long as you don’t have squabbling siblings, obviously.
There are also some maths mini-games involving addition and subtraction, which for children who’ve moved onto that at school, looks like a fun way to practise their new skills.
There are no ads or in-app purchases either. Little Digits costs £1.49, and we think it’s a bargain at that price. Here’s a video showing how it works, though:
