Roll out the barrel! There’s a new Nosy Crow book-app for iPhone and iPad, and this one marks the company’s move into non-fiction.
It’s called Rounds: Franklin Frog, and it “follows the life cycle of a frog with beautifully simple narrative and design motifs”. Specifically circles: every on-screen element is a circle or a portion of a circle.
If you’ve seen your children get excited about frogspawn and tadpoles at school, you’ll understand why Rounds is likely to be a hit.
Like Nosy Crow’s fiction book-apps, the voice narration is provided by children too – something we’ve found to be very popular with our youngsters.
The publisher reckons that using animation and interactivity is the perfect way to explain frog biology to children. We suspect they’re right.
Rounds: Franklin Frog costs 69p on the App Store until midnight this Friday (10 August), after which it will switch to £2.99. It’s a universal app, so works on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch without you having to pay twice.
