Sorry, fellow Brits: this app appears to be US-only. It’s called Piko - Kid Video Player, and it’s just launched for iPhone and iPad on that side of the Atlantic.
“Flip through islands in our user-friendly interface to watch clips, play games and interact with your favorite TV show characters,” explains its App Store listing.
“Some of our super-awesome shows include Yo Gabba Gabba! Rastamouse, Monster Math Squad, Animal Mechanicals, Bo On The Go & More.”
It looks good, with clear child-friendly controls to navigate through shows. Piko’s developer also says future features will include parental controls, more micro-games and ‘video libraries’ giving more control over which clips to watch.
This public beta version is free to download, so we’re wondering how Piko will make money – an in-app subscription, possibly, or ads. We’ll be keeping an eye on it.
For now, file this one alongside Playground TV, another US-only app that launched in August with shows from PBS Kids, Nick Jr, Sesame Street among other networks.
Piko - Kid Video Player is a free download from the App Store and runs on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
