Storytelling app Toontastic goes All Access on iPad

There are plenty of apps that tell stories to your children, but how about your kids creating stories themselves? That’s the idea behind Toontastic: All Access for iPad.

It’s not a new idea: the free version of Toontastic has been available since January 2011, with themed ‘playsets’ available to buy as in-app purchases. More than 2m cartoons have been created by children using it.

This new version gathers the playsets into a single premium package, charging £6.99 for the download. It works the same way though.

“Making cartoons with Toontastic is as easy as putting on a puppet show – simply press the record button, move your characters onscreen, and tell your story,” explains the App Store listing.

“Toontastic records your animation and voice as a cartoon video to share with friends and family on ToonTube, the app’s global storytelling network for kids.”

The playsets include pirates, princesses and space adventures, with developer Launchpad Toys saying you’ll save 60% on the cost to unlock the more-than 40 playsets in the free version.

We love the idea, so stand by for a review once we’ve made some cartoon classics using the app. In the meantime, Toontastic: All Access costs £6.99 on the App Store, and is iPad-only.
