We’ve seen a number of apps come out for learning English, but what about other languages? Let’s Learn Hindi! focuses on the Hindi Varnmala.
It looks playful rather than boring, too: digital flashcards for every letter of the Hindi alphabet, including their phonic sounds, and a feature teaching children how to trace and write them.
“Your child will learn to associate pictures of common objects with their names and with the starting sound of that letter,” explains its App Store listing.
“So, as they brush the ‘daant’, or beat a tune on the ‘dholak’ or make popcorn from a ‘bhutta’, it promises an experience that will be both entertaining and educational.”
Music is also included – “four upbeat, bubbly tunes” - to make it fun for its target audience of 2-5 year-old children. Let’s Learn Hindi! costs £1.49 on the App Store, and is universal for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
