You can fit my knowledge of crochet on the back of a knitting needle*, but I know a beautiful-looking children’s app when I see one. Loopy Lost His Lettuce HD is certainly that.
It’s a book-app for kids about a snail called Loopy who, yes, has misplaced his greens. Cue 30 digital pages with lots of animation and interactivity, as well as six mini-games to play while progressing through the story.
Voice narration is included, but it’s the visual style that startles. Developer Pixelflip Studios explains that the artwork has been created using freeform crochet: “All objects and creatures have been individually hand-made.”
Marvellous stuff. Loopy Lost His Lettuce HD costs £1.99 on the App Store, and is iPad-only.
*or a crochet hook. See, I told you I didn’t know much about it…
