“Draw, create, print and fold beautiful 3D figures with Foldify,” explains its App Store listing. “You don’t need drawing skills, Foldify has tons of free content to create amazing, high quality figures.”
What that means is creating little characters on your iPad, adding eyes, mouths and other virtual stamps and patterns to customise them to your child’s own preferences. In a future update, you’ll be able to import photos too.
Then you print them out, either by using Apple’s AirPrint technology if you have a compatible printer, or by emailing them as a PDF file to yourself. Then all you have to do is cut the figure out, and fold it into shape ready for playing.
It’s a marvellous idea, beautifully done. And you can see what other people have been making with the app too, downloading the best designs to print out and play with. If you’re really creative, you might want to share your own in return.
If you’ve got an iPad and children using it, you need Foldify this Christmas and beyond. Foldify costs £1.49 on the App Store, and runs on iPad only – well, all except the very first iPad, anyway.
