When I was young, I didn’t start learning a foreign language until I was 11 and at senior school. Nowadays, kids start much younger, both through school and home-learning.
Kids learn Spanish with Busuu is one of an emerging crop of high-quality apps that help out. Aimed at 4-7 year-olds, it teaches them 150 core Spanish words using interactive exercises and mini-games.
30 units are included in the course, with the first three included in the initial (free) app download. You can then pay £1.49 via in-app purchase for units four, five and six, or £6.99 for the entire course.
There are some nifty features too, such as the ‘language garden’ where a new flower grows every time your child completes an exercise. We can imagine some parents brushing up their Spanish vocab with the app, too, when the kids aren’t using the app!
Kids learn Spanish with Busuu is a free download from the App Store, for iPad only. It’s also worth checking out the existing Busuu website, which includes a range of language-learning courses, and not just for kids.

Hello,
Just downloaded this app for our iPad 2 mini, paid to unlock all the levels and have now found it quits itself on the second level of every section.
Not a great start is it!
Hi Darren, sorry for this little bug. This was due to the iOS7 update causing it to crash. You’ll be glad to hear it’s been fixed and the update is now available for download. Enjoy!
