Watch out for Hullabalu, the latest company trying to do great things with storybook-apps. It’s just released its first one – Pan: The Fearless Beribolt.

It tells the tale of a “young purple panda in the clouds” named Pandora Beribolt, or Pan for short. The storyline sees her setting off with friends to find her family.

Expect 16 pages of interactive scenery, a pair of animated shorts bookending the story, and a photo booth feature for kids to take snaps with Pan and the other characters.

In a strange way, it reminds us of some of the cartoons we used to watch as kids: the voices and music mainly. Which isn’t a criticism: it looks very polished indeed.

Pan: The Fearless Beribolt costs £2.49 on the App Store, and is iPad-only. Here’s a video demo:
