Justin Fletcher’s Lettersounds app gets wordy on iOS

CBeebies star Justin Fletcher’s first app, Justin’s World - Goldilocks and the Three Bears, came out earlier this year. And very impressive it was too. Now he’s released a second app.

It’s called Justin’s World - Lettersounds, and switches fairytales for phonics, while using a similar mix of video, illustration and animation to help pre-schoolers learn their letter sounds.

The app is firmly focused on the phonics your children will be learning at school, with the emphasis here on the first eight letter sounds: s, a, t, p, i, n, m and d.

Video of Justin introduces each letter, helped by “a pink pig, an amazing apple and a talking tiger” among other characters (angry ant, slithering snake, paddling penguin and so on).

Each video gets its own mini-game teaching kids to choose the right letter to build a word, with a multiple-choice game rounding out the education.

Justin’s World - Lettersounds costs £1.49 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on Apple’s App Store.
