Shrek Alarm app lets kids wake up with their favourite ogre

We’re not sure how many children sleep with an iPhone or Android smartphone beside their bed, but for those that do – and adult fans of the Shrek films, of course – the Shrek Alarm app is worth a look.

Released by Blitz Games, it’s an alarm clock based on DreamWorks’ cuddly cartoon ogre, with all the features you’d expect from an alarm app including vibrate and snooze modes.

The app can wake you or your children up with Shrek sounds or music from your iTunes library, but aside from the clock aspects, it’s also an interactive character app: Shrek can be poked and tickled a bit like the Talking Tom Cat and Talking Ginger characters you’ve seen in other apps.

There’s also a five-day weather forecast and a new Shrek Fact every day. As we said, we suspect it’s older fans who’ll be getting the app, but if you have a spare iPod touch or an old smartphone that’s been passed on to your child, it may suit them too. It also works on tablets.

Shrek Alarm costs £1.49 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store. An Android version is coming too, so we’ll update this story when it’s available on the Google Play store.
