We have fond memories of muppety 1980s children’s TV show Fraggle Rock, but our two sons are new to its charms. In 2013, they’re discovering it through apps rather than television.
We wrote about the Fraggle Friends Forever storybook app earlier this year, but now its publisher Cupcake Digital has released a second: Fraggle Rock Game Day.
Available for iOS and Android, it focuses on pig-tailed fraggle Red, and her efforts to rescue friends Boober, Gobo, Mokey and Wembley after they get captured by the mischievous Junior Gorg.
The app takes a familiar storybook format, with animations, a selection of mini-games, digital colouring and stickers, and the option for children to hear voice narration or simply read it by themselves.
Cupcake has also included a Grown-Up’s Corner with some ideas about how you can talk about the story’s themes with your children, as well as how it ties in to the US Common Core educational standards.
Fraggle Rock Game Day costs £1.99 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store, and £1.94 for Android from the Google Play store.
Cupcake has also made the previous app, Fraggle Friends Forever, free until 19 August, to promote the new app, so that’s worth a look too.
