Gorilla Band app gives kids a musical 3D treat from the jungle

At the time of writing, there is no official ZingZillas app. But fans of monkey-like creatures dancing, singing and playing instruments can rejoice at the release of Gorilla Band instead.

It’s the work of Australian developer Wasabi Productions, and follows its previous Ten Giggly Gorillas app onto iPhone and iPad. What you get this time round is, yes, a gorilla band, with their own instruments and story to tell.

Oh, and two original songs too: “One upbeat and one for bedtime”. Although given the general upbeatness (i.e. noisy chaos) of our two sons’ bedtime routines, we sense either may go down well in our house.

Anyway, besides the music, the big draw for Gorilla Band is its 3D graphics – that’s 3D as in not-flat computer-generated characters and scenery, like a console game, not wear-special-glasses-get-headache 3D. It looks really impressive.

The combination of storytelling and instrument-spotting will keep plenty of kids interested. Gorilla Band costs £2.49 / $3.99 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store. Here’s a video demo:
