Skylanders may have started life as a children’s console game with its own range of toys, but in 2013 it’s also available on smartphones and tablets.

The latest example is Skylanders Cloud Patrol, available on iPhone and iPad for some time, but now out for Android too.

“Join Trigger Happy and the rest of the Skylanders as they patrol the Skylands for escaped trolls,” explains its Google Play store listing. “Grab your favorite Skylander and take to the skies in your flying gunship to put those troublesome trolls in their place – Skylanders style.”

That means a colourful action game involving shooting the mischievous troll characters, and amassing loot as your children progress through the levels and unlock new characters.

They can also scan in the Skylanders toys they already own, to play with in the game. That’s good news for parents who’ve already invested in their child’s collection of physical characters.
