Developer Outfit7 is best known for its Talking Friends apps – Talking Ginger, Talking Tom Cat etc – which have been downloaded a whopping 1bn times so far. But now it’s trying something different.
Jigty Jigsaw Puzzles quietly went live for iPhone and iPad last month, and it’s coming to Android this weekend too. It’s an app for solving digital jigsaw puzzles with a variety of themes, from animals to cityscapes.
The app is designed for all ages, but there’s a special Kids Mode that offers guiding lines for the puzzle pieces, while also snapping them into place more easily on the smaller puzzles.
Smaller? Yes, puzzles range in complexity from four pieces to 144 on iPhone, and 625 on iPad. And for grown-ups, the app offers a competitive element too, where you can play against the clock and see if you can beat your friends’ times.
Jigty uses in-app purchases to buy the puzzle packs, which range from 69p for the dinosaurs pack to £1.99 for most of the others. Make sure you have your in-app purchases restrictions locked down if a young child is using the app alone, then.
You can also create your own puzzles from the photos stored on your device, which is a feature we think will appeal to children.
Jigty Jigsaw Puzzles is a free download for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store.
