We’ll admit to being new to the work of Polish poet Julian Tuwim, who wrote verse for adults and children. A new iOS app is hoping to bring that work to a brand new audience.
It’s called Locomotive, and is based on his 1938 poem of the same name. The app offers the poem alongside an interactive train full of fun for modern-day children: “play the piano, arrange scattered bags, feed animals, make a BOOM with a big cannon, and so on,” as the developers put it.
The app can be used as a digital book, turning the pages for each new section of verse, or it can be played with more interactively. There’s a song, and as a bonus, a range of pictures on the website of developer Big Rabbit to print out and colour in.
