Cartoon Network’s latest app is pretty interesting: it splits the iPad screen in half so children can watch their favourite shows while also playing games based on them.

It’s called Cartoon Network Watch and Play, although for now it’s only available in the US – you can’t get it here in Apps Playground’s stomping ground of the UK.

The app serves up videos from shows including Adventure Time, Ben 10, The Powerpuff Girls and Johnny Bravo, along with games starring the likes of Finn, Jake, Mordecai, Rigby, Gumball and Ben 10.

“Simply turn your device to flip instantly between watching video and playing games. You can even use the split screen mode to watch and play at the same time,” explains its App Store listing.

A fun idea, and perhaps one that says something about the multi-tasking skills of the average child in 2013. Cartoon Network Watch and Play is a free download for iPad from Apple’s App Store in the US.
