We’re constantly racking our brains for new and interesting sources of clothes for our two sons. We have to admit, we hadn’t considered using an app until we saw Lil’Stylers.
Launched in the US but available elsewhere in the world too, it’s a “social shopping app” for children’s clothes and related items, promising to help parents “discover new looks, new trends and hundreds of kids’ clothes brands from around the world”.
It’s partly an app for browsing photos of clothing and finding out where to buy it, but also sharing your own finds. That may spook some parents who are uncomfortable sharing pictures of their children with a community of strangers, of course.
The company has seemingly been thinking about this. “Yes, snapping pics of kids is touchy. However, if you have a look at Pinterest or Instagram, you will find plenty,” its founder Eric tells TechCrunch in an interview.
“Like every other community, five percent of the users will generate most of the content. Even if the rest is only following, they will still create multiple impressions of a pic, and be consumers.”
Well, it’s your choice whether to contribute photos or just browse those of other parents. But the proof of Lil’Stylers’ usefulness will be in how good it is for finding cool new clothes for your kids. We’re going to spend the next month using it, and will report back.
Lil’Stylers is a free download for iPhone on Apple’s App Store.
