With two sons, our house isn’t fertile ground for Strawberry Shortcake. That said, they do both LOVE cakes, so perhaps her new app will tempt them.
It’s called Strawberry Shortcake Bake Shop, and it’s made by developer Budge Studios. It gets kids to bake a range of desserts with the popular children’s character.
That means a combination of mini-games and decoration to get each dessert just so, with kids pouring milk, sprinkling choc chips, poking in candles and so on. One recipe – Very Berry Shortcake – is included for free.
There are others that can be bought as in-app purchases: the Chocalicious Birthday, Berry Bitty Cakes, Brownie Supreme and Princess Cake. There are also kitchen tools: Orange Blossom’s Electric Mixer, Lemon Meringue’s Cooking Spray, Raspberry Torte’s Fine Knife, Blueberry Muffin’s Convection Oven, and Cherry Jam’s Icing Press.
It costs £6.99 to buy all the desserts, or you can pay smaller amounts of £1.99 for the cupcakes and toys and £1.99 for the Princess Cake and colours, and £2.99 for all the kitchen tools.
£6.99 may seem a little pricey even for a fun virtual cooking app, but at least you and your children can try this for free before deciding whether to pay it.
Strawberry Shortcake Bake Shop is a free download for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
