Digital books publisher Zuuka has launched its iStoryTime Storybook Library for Android, armed with a selection of stories based on familiar children’s movies.
The company is billing the app as “the Netflix of kids’ books”, because you pay a single monthly subscription fee to access all its stories, rather than buying each one individually (although we think you can do the latter too, if you’d rather).
The app comes with four stories for free: Madagascar, The Giant Smurf, Ice Age and Robin Hood. Other stories include The Croods, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, Monsters vs. Aliens and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
The books themselves are voice narrated, and the app is designed so that children only see the books that they have access through due to a subscription or individual purchases – i.e. they’re not having the others dangled in front of them as things to buy.
iStoryTime Storybook Library is a free download for Android from the Google Play store, and it’s also going to be on Amazon’s Appstore for Kindle Fire devices too – we’ll provide a link once we get one.
