We know apps publisher StoryToys best for its pop-up storybook-apps on iOS and Android, but now the company is trying something different: music.

Its brand new app is Animal Band ~ Nursery Rhymes, which although it features familiarly-3D scenes, is more a musical toy than a digital book.

“It’s twilight in the jungle, and all the animals are feeling sleepy. As each loveable little character is woken up with a simple tap, it joins in the song, creating a wonderfully rich musical experience,” explains its App Store listing. “Keep playing, or they’ll nod back to sleep!”

It’s from the Toca Band school of music apps, in other words: no musical training or proficiency required, as it’s more about triggering different characters to join in the playing.

There are eight animals and four nursery rhymes included: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Row Your Boat and Once I Caught a Fish Alive.

Animal Band ~ Nursery Rhymes costs £0.99 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store, and everything’s included in that price.
