Shape the Village app gets geometric on iPhone and iPad

And still the fun shape-recognition apps for kids keep coming. We’ve written about Mr Fox and Shapes today already, but we’re also quite excited about Shape the Village.

It’s an iPhone and iPad app by developer WiseKids that came out yesterday, based around a village entirely built from colourful shapes: “a high-design app created to stimulate children’s imaginations while educating them about shapes” as the App Store listing puts it.

The app features 16 activities to help children learn, all aimed at 3-5 year-olds getting to grips with circles, triangles and squares. As they work through the exercises, they get building and character rewards to mark their progress.

We also like the inclusion of a Workbook section, which gives parents more activities and games that they can print out to continue the learning when the device is turned off.

Shape the Village costs £1.99 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store.
