Why get a Disney app based on one famous film when you can have several? That may be the theory behind Disney Classics Collection, which made its debut for iPhone and iPad today.

It’s a collection of digital storybooks: Dumbo, Bambi, Snow White and the Aristocats. Each gets its own story with added animation and interactivity, including musical mini-games, digital colouring, puzzles and other games.

Children can personalise the app with their name and photo, and each story comes with trademark sweeping-strings music, as well as voice narration. Young Disney fans (and older ones, for that matter) will love it.

Dumbo comes free with the app, but the other stories are bought using in-app purchases – with a prompt for children to “ask a grown-up for help” before buying, as well as a code that has to be entered to access the in-app store.

Each of the three remaining stories costs £1.49, but at the time of writing you can choose to pay £1.99 to unlock all of them, which sounds like good value to us.
