We grew up with TV cartoon The Mysterious Cities of Gold, and just the sight of its title is enough to bring the theme tune back onto our internal jukebox. Forever.
Now there’s a brand new iPhone and iPad game based on it called The Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths, by developer Ynnis Interactive. It ties in with a new series of the show.
The game features familiar characters and locations, with an emphasis on puzzles and exploration on the way to, yes, the mysterious city of gold that gave the cartoon its name.
“Faithful to the story-line and art style of the famous Mysterious Cities of Gold anime cartoon, Secret Paths lets you dig deep in this wonderful cross-media universe,” explains its App Store listing.
“You get to play with all the main characters, and each hero has his own set of qualities that you will need to use smartly when approaching the different challenges.”
One for nostalgic grown-ups, or their children too? That remains to be seen. The Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths is available in two versions: a free-to-download game that uses in-app purchases, or an all-in Director’s Cut that costs £7.99.
Oh yes, that theme tune. Enjoy:
