Doodle Jump Christmas Special jumps onto iPhone and iPad

The original Doodle Jump was one of the first iPhone games that parents and children alike were playing and enjoying. Now it’s the time of year when we remember its Christmas edition.

Doodle Jump Christmas Special came out last year, but has just been updated. It claims to be “an amazingly beautiful special Christmas version of one of the most addictive and best-selling iOS apps of all time”.

This time round, the Doodle character is trying to jump his way to the North Pole, and as before, this involves bouncing up the screen, leaping onto platforms while avoiding an assortment of enemies, and also trying not to fall back down.

Developer Lima Sky promises “all-NEW STUNNING GRAPHICS, all-NEW paths and challenges, all-NEW monsters, a SUPER COOL ROCKET power-up, CHILL-BREATH MONSTER that will freeze you if you’re not careful, and much, much more” to ensure it’s worth fans of the original game giving this new one a try.

Doodle Jump Christmas Special costs £0.69 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, although it also uses in-app purchases. The game’s store offers items including different characters to play with (a reindeer, Scrooge, snowman and elf versions of Doodle) as well as Resurrect Teapots to save you if you fall, and Head Start Rockets to give you a boost.

These are bought with virtual coins, which are in turn bought with real money: £0.99 for 1,000 coins rising to £13.99 for 120,000 – as a guide, the extra characters cost from 3,000 coins for Snowdoodle Frost through to 19,000 for Super Santa, while each batch of five teapots or rockets costs 1,000 coins.

There’s also a free version of Doodle Jump Christmas Special which has all of the above, plus ads.
