As parents, we’ve probably spent more on children’s magazines in the last four years than any form of entertainment for ourselves. Those cover-mounted plastic toys never lose their allure…
The official Peppa Pig Magazine is one of the most popular here in the UK, and now it’s got a digital version for iPad – although children will have to supply their own toys.
The monthly issues will be delivered to your iPad either for £2.99 a go, or as a £2.49 monthly subscription. What do you get for your money? A read-along story and a range of activities including colouring, puzzles, word games.
Publisher Redan Publishing says the emphasis will be on “reading basics and foundational mathematics skills” for pre-school children, just like the print edition.
“We wanted to deliver a fully interactive publication that adds something different and special to the printed version and not just a simple pdf version,” said Redan’s Julie Jones as the app went live. “This was quite a challenge, knowing that children are amongst the most savvy users of tablets.”
Now we’ll find out how well they’ve done it. Peppa Pig Magazine is a free download for iPad on Apple’s App Store – here in the UK, although we’re not sure about availability elsewhere in the world.
