We’ve enjoyed the playful charm and characterful graphical style of developer PopAppFactory’s series of Mini-U apps for kids in 2013. The last one of the year is Mini-U: My Home.
The idea here is to explore the household – well, specific bits of it – with three mini-games. Wall Decorator involves decorating a room with virtual wallpaper, while Wardrobe Builder is all about sorting out a wardrobe and its contents by dragging them into the right places.
Finally, Shoes Magician is a matching mini-game requiring children to put pairs of shoes together into the right boxes – we have to say, whoever owns the house in Mini-U: My Home has a LOT of shoe boxes to hand!
We really like the design of the Mini-U apps, complete with faces for the various boxes and decorating equipment, and some of the hidden features discovered within the app’s homescreen, encouraging children to go hunting for (among others) a “hidden teddy rabbit, cat & mice, red heart & snowflake”.
Mini-U: My Home is a free download for iPad on Apple’s App Store, with no in-app purchases included. And if your kids like it, perhaps try Mini-U: The Kitchen and Mini-U: Zoo Abracadabra too.
