It’s really easy to make a bad alphabet flashcards app, and hundreds of developers have done it. It’s much harder to make a great one.
hip hop hen: abc flashcard songs might just be the next to fall into the latter category. Released this week, it’s already getting promoted by Apple on the App Store, which is a good sign for its quality.
The app mixes music with its phonics flashcards, spread over 35 “pages” where children collect images relating to each letter sound, increasing their score as they go.
Developer Hip Hop Hen says it based the app’s content on the second and third phases of the letters and sounds that children learn in primary school here in the UK, making it a good home accompaniment to your kids’ classroom phonics.
We’ll be having a proper play with the app for a review next week, so we’re looking forward to seeing how it shapes up. hip hop hen: abc flashcard songs costs £2.99 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store.
