Wait, there’s a Lego movie? Yes. Yes there is. It comes out next month (in the US, at least), complete with the voices of Will Ferrell and Morgan Freeman. And there’s also an app for that.
Released by Hollywood studio Warner Bros, it’s pitched as “the ultimate fan-guide” for the upcoming film on iPhone and iPad. We suspect it may appeal to a fair few of Lego’s adult fans, but also children.
The app is promotional, so expect galleries of photos of the film and its sets – this being Lego, shots of the sets actually promise to be pretty interesting – as well as video clips. It also introduces the key characters.
If that was all there was to it, this might be underwhelming. However, there’s also a mini-game – Lego Movie Brick Bust – which looks like a block-matching puzzler. And there’s a Lego Sig Fig Creator where kids can create their own minifigure character then save or share it.
Anyway, if you’re planning on taking your children to see the film next month, this may be a nice way to build anticipation. The Lego Movie Experience is a free download for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store.
