If your children love Lego, they may be interested in the Bloxy apps for iPhone and iPad too. The latest, Bloxy Knights & Castles, was released today.

It’s a spin-off from the Bloxy World app, whose ‘Bricks for Kids’ slogan gives you a good idea of its mission to bring blocky building to touchscreen devices.

The new app has a specific theme: all things medieval, as your children build castles and populate them with knights, archers, princesses and even dragons.

The app provides instructions on how to make eight pre-constructed models, but there’s also a free-play mode for creative kids who’ve mastered the building controls.

What’s more they can then share their creations on developer Next Is Great‘s Bloxy World community website, which is already showing off more than 1,500 projects from its young builders. Kids can see other people’s castles and vote for the ones they like best.

It looks good fun, with the added bonus – as for any app of this type – that the bricks will never be making you howl in pain after you tread on a square one first thing in the morning.

Bloxy Knights & Castles costs £1.49 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store.
