We’re still shaking our heads at the size of the bill from last time our cat went to the vet’s. Thankfully, Toca Pet Doctor is far more affordable.
It’s the latest children’s app from Toca Boca, which is on a fine run of App Store excellence. This time round, your kids will be playing vet with a waiting room full of poorly pets.
The app features 15 animals, each with their own ailment: from a worm that’s twisted itself into a knot, to a bird with a bump on its head.
Tapping on each animal triggers a mini-game, where a single action – washing scrapes, popping tummy bubbles, loosening invertebrates etc – helps sort the problem out.
In contrast to some recent Toca Boca apps (Toca Builders for example) Toca Pet Doctor skews a bit younger – it’s aimed at 2-6 year-olds, in a similar vein to the company’s sister developer Sago Sago’s apps.
There is a goal: each animal goes to sleep once they’re cured, and there’s an animation triggered when all 15 are sorted out. But at any point, kids can choose to minister to the same animal again, or repeat the whole lot: there are no restrictions.
Toca Pet Doctor costs £1.99 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store.
