A career spent tapping out words on keyboards has seen my handwriting steadily regress to an indecipherable scribble. So Cursive Writing Wizard could help me, not just my kids!
It’s the latest app from developer L’Escapadou, following in the footsteps (well, letter-tracings) of previous app Writing Wizard, which taught children to form letters by tracing their fingers on the touchscreen.
Cursive Writing Wizard takes that on a step to joined-up handwriting, tracing any word they like (up to 11 letters in length) and joining them together neatly, adding animated stickers and sound effects to keep it fun.
There are four letter-based games to play, and a host of features for parents – including reports on how your children are progressing within the app, and the ability to customise the word lists and difficulty to match your children’s skills and preferences.
There is even a choice of three different joined-up fonts – this was a new concept for us – including US fonts Zaner-Bloser and D’Nealian, and a French font for L’Escapadou’s home country.
We really liked Writing Wizard, and its follow-up looks like the perfect continuation for kids ready to take their next steps in handwriting.
Cursive Writing Wizard costs £2.49 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store.
