Sesame Street launches S’More digital iPad magazine

Sesame Street S'More magazine for iPad

Sesame Street has released a swathe of interesting and innovative apps for kids over recent years. Its latest is worth a look too.

It’s called Sesame Street S’More – The Digital Magazine for Kids, and it’s been released in an initial “lite” sample issue for iPad, with plans to release another issue every couple of months.

Aimed at preschoolers, it’s a mixture of stories, creative activities and educational content, with the stars of the TV show – Big Bird, Elmo, Zoe and more – all featuring prominently.

“Hours of fun activities, designed specifically with your preschooler in mind,” as the App Store listing puts it. “Entertain, engage, and ignite your child’s imagination. Practice counting, tracing letters, creating art, and more.”

Sesame Street says that each issue will be based around themes designed to appeal to children, including love and friendship, neighbourhood, school, birthdays, alphabet and “please & thank you”.

As parents, you’ll be able to subscribe to the magazine through Apple’s Newsstand system. Individual issues will be sold for $3.99 (£2.99 here in the UK) but there’ll also be an option to pay $2.99 (£1.99) every two months or $15.99 a year for six issues.

It looks very good, and the first issue is free so you can see how it shapes up. Sesame Street S’More is a free download for iPad from Apple’s App Store.
