Bubl Draw and Bubl Tap apps bounce onto iPhone and iPad

Bubl is a new kids’ apps developer aiming to create “interactive digital art for children”. Its Bubl Draw and Bubl Tap apps look well worth a try.

Bubl Draw is, as its name makes clear, a drawing app. Well, drawing, colouring and music, all wrapped up in a simple, easy-to-use interface for young kids.

All children have to do is tap and drag their fingers on the screen to create their digital artwork, with themes including Classic, Disco and Rumba (not that your kids will know what disco and rumba are, but they’ll enjoy the bright palettes).

The app then handles the task of turning these pictures into music, which in our experience adds an extra frisson for children, when they see their creativity turned into a tune as well as an image.

Bubl Tap is aimed at even younger children: babies rather than toddlers. It’s presented as a “digital rattle” with shapes, patterns and music triggered when the screen is tapped.

It’s in the same black and white colour scheme that you may have noticed in some first books for babies: the theory being that the contrast is what attracts their attention.

The app also plays by itself when left alone, although of course you won’t be leaving your baby alone with your iPhone or iPad – not unless you don’t mind its corners getting a gummy chew!

Bubl Draw costs £1.49 for iPhone and iPad on Apple’s App Store, while Bubl Tap costs £1.49 for iPhone and iPad.
