We’ve lost count of the number of dinosaur books our two sons have collected over the last couple of years: their appetite for all things prehistoric is immense.
There are quite a few dinosaur apps stomping around the app stores, too. The latest comes with the badge of the US Smithsonian museum, and is called Is Apatosaurus Okay?
Released by publisher Oceanhouse Media, it focuses on an Apatosaurus who’s being menaced by a pack of Ceratosauruses (Ceratosaurii? We’re a bit hazy on prehistoric plurals…) on his way to the stream.
Children can read about what happens to him and/or have the story read to them, with words highlighted as they’re read. As with Oceanhouse Media’s other apps – the Dr Seuss series, for example – kids can also record their own narration, and share it with friends and family who also have the app.
The app is aimed at 3-8 year-olds, so a range of reading levels. Is Apatosaurus Okay? costs £1.49 for iPhone and iPad from Apple’s App Store, and £1.22 for Android from the Google Play store.
