Get kids practising times tables with Robin and Dob

Dogs, as a rule, aren’t that good at multiplication. That’s why they can’t work out that 17 runs down the garden to fetch one stick isn’t working in their favour…

That’s not the case for the dog in new maths app Practice Times Tables with Robin and Dob though. We assume he’s Dob rather than Robin, but we can’t be sure.

Anyway, we spotted the app go live for iPad, and it looks quirky and fun. Released by developer Dotstopgo, it’s the creation of a Maths Ph. D student, making something for his own children to use on Apple’s tablet.

There are 10 tables to practise, each with 10 levels – plus a special challenge combining several of them. Kids are asked multiplication questions, and tap on bubbles with various answers, notching up stars to show their success.

At this point, we’re judging it by the App store listing and screenshots, as well as its trailer video on YouTube, but it looks well worth a download if your children are looking for an entertaining way to keep their multiplication skills fresh.

Practice Times Tables with Robin and Dob costs £1.49 for iPad from Apple’s App Store.
